Playing With Her Heart by Lauren Blakely's NEW cover!!!

From the NYT & USA Today Bestselling romance author, a sizzling and addictive story of a woman with a broken past and the man who can't fight his attraction to her...

Twenty-three year old rising theater star Jill McCormick has built a life out of pretending. Pretending she's happy, pretending she's not haunted by the dark secret that shattered her world six years ago. But then she comes face to face with her new director- sexy, sophisticated, possessive, all-alpha Davis Milo. He tries to resist the actress he's cast, but the attraction between them is too powerful, and soon their private rehearsals spiral into new, forbidden territory. The passionate connection the intense chemistry is undeniable, and it hits them anywhere, and everywhere- in the theater, on the piano, in the limo, in the restaurant... But the tragedy in Jill's past stands between them. Davis has walls too, so they can either face their fears together, or risk the deepest love and greatest passion either has ever felt...

From Lauren: "This short excerpt is from chapter 12 when Davis unclips Jill's hair, and it served as the inspiration for the new look for the cover. To me, this short moment says so much about their relationship."

He leans into the car, reaches for the seat belt, and pulls it across my chest, buckling me in. He's inches from me, and he smells cold like the night air. But he also smells the way a man should at the end of the day: a little bit of sweat, a lot of work, and all raw power. He brings one hand behind my head and unclips my hair, letting it fall over his fingers. I tremble from his touch as a shiver runs down my spine. "I like your hair up and I like your hair down," he whispers to me, breaking down all my resistance in an instant.
I can see this playing out if I do nothing-I'll spend it rewinding this moment and putting it on repeat all night long. But I don't want to go home with only a memory to feed my body, and I can't stand the thought of this night ending too soon.
I make my choice. There's only one choice. "Do you want to share?" I ask, praying he lives in the same direction.
"You're downtown, right?"
I nod.
"Me too."

Strings by Kendall Grey

Strings (Hard Rock Harlots #1)
by Kendall Grey

Synopsis

WARNING: STRINGS is not suitable for slut shamers, uptight stone throwers, Holier-Than-Thou prudes, humorless virgins, persons with chronic neck or back pain, pearl-clutching bitties, those who disparage crude humor or vulgarity in their many forms, closed-minded people with sticks up their asses, or anyone under the age of 18. The vile, base language and shocking, unholy sexual acts contained herein are not condoned by anyone with a lick of sense and should certainly not be reproduced without proper training and protection. The potty-mouthed and perpetually horny "heroine" (the term is used loosely) of this book does not resemble a normal, well-adjusted, or remotely believable person in any way, shape, or form. The author acknowledges that the characters in this book are shallow and two-dimensional; the plot is both ridiculous and insipid. She makes no apologies for any of it.

Free-spirited musician Letty Dillinger adheres to a strict, “no strings attached” policy when it comes to men. After a wild night of unabashed sex in a fancy hotel room, she never expects to see the adventurous stud she dubs “Shades” again. When her all-girl rock trio books a tour at the last minute as the opening act for their archenemies, Letty’s shocked to discover she knows the competition’s new lead singer. Intimately. Shades is no longer a one-night stand. Now he’s the guy she has to one-up on stage every night for the sake of her career.

Sharing close quarters on a bus with her sexy nemesis and his bad-boy buddies puts Letty’s Golden Rule to the test. On this tour, guitar strings aren’t the only things being played. And when heartstrings are pulled too hard, they’re bound to snap sooner or later

Heather's Review

                                             4 STRAPPING smooches!

If you come to one of my shows, you’ll leave either wanting to be me or wanting to do me...
I’m the lead singer and bass player for an all-chick, ‘70s-style rock band, Cherry Buzz Float.
Letty  works at a waitress by day and, when she has a gig, a kick ass rocker at night.  Now 25 years old and unsatisfied with her life, she goes to the bar to drown her sorrows and gets chatty with a guy named Shades.
“You ever been butt-boinked by a drunk, dildo-clad woman before?”
There’s that naughty grin again.  “No, but I’ll try anything once.”
Yeah… so they go off to a hotel and have a night of, seriously, the craziest sex ever!  She made a promise to return the favor on his birthday.  So, she writes her number down before sneaking out, not really expecting to ever see him again.

The next day, her manager calls her and her band-mates in for a meeting.  She has signed another band, Killer Dixon, and wants Cherry Buzz Float to go on tour as their opening act.  Letty gets the surprise of her life when Killer Dixon shows up for the meeting.
If I had nuts, they’d have crawled so far up my ass, my breath would smell like cum.
My heart chokes on its own blood as the guy I fucked last night steps up and says, “You can call me Shades.”
Shades is the new lead singer of Killer Dixon and they will be touring together… on a bus.  Strap in(haha) for a WILD ride with this gang; full of lots of drama and a gleeking cooter with a life of its own!

Okay, I expected this book to be pure and simple, candy.  And, it is that.  There is a lot of sex and hilarity.  What I did not expect was the emotional attachment that I developed for Letty.  Out of nowhere I found myself crying.  How do you write a book that is so filled with raunchy sex and every obscene sexual word and act that you can come up with and still manage to create a touching love story?  Kendall Gray has figured it out!  Seriously, I was SHOCKED when the tears started falling.

My one downfall with this book was the dirtiness in the anal sex.  I for one am not fond of anal but it does not ruin a book for me, if it is clean.  Clean as in a condom is used.  There is no back to front or back to mouth… and at one point when he licked his finger after putting it in the “no-no” hole, I literally gagged!

Strings would have been a 4.5 smooch book apart from that one scene.  I am giving Strings 4 smooches.  Heed the warning.  This book is FULL of shocking moments.  Take it for what it is.  My biggest shock was how much I fell in love with Miss Letty and even Shades.  Well done Kendall Grey!  I can’t wait to read Jinx’s story in  Beats!

Selene's Review

4.5 Finger-licking Smooches

So, my new thing is to NOT read any press about a book before I read it … no summaries or reviews.  I love going into a book blind.  The only thing I knew about this book was what I read in the author’s warning …

Heed the warning people.  HEED. THE. WARNING.

This book is something else.  And it’s fabulous.

Letty Dillinger is a struggling musician … a hard-rocking, bad ass one at that.  She’s twenty-five years old and is the lead singer and bass player for an “all-chick, ‘70s-style rock band,” Cherry Buzz Float.  Music is her passion, it’s her life.   Her band is invited to join Killer Dixon’s tour (sharing a bus) and open for them … a huge break for Cherry Buzz Float.  Unfortunately, there is bad blood between Kate, Letty’s band mate, and Rax from Killer Dixon.  There is also some history between Letty and Killer Dixon’s lead singer.  Suffice it to say, the stage is set for drama and some pretty hot moments on the road.

You can’t help but love Letty for her quick wit, sharp tongue, and cavalier attitude in the bedroom … and taxi cab and tour bus and outside against the tour bus and on stage …. well, you get the point.  Letty lets her freak flag proudly fly.  In the midst of all the commotion, crazy talk and crazier sex, there is a sweet little love story tucked away.  It sneaked up on me, just like it did Letty.

I don’t know a darn thing about being a musician or the passion behind it, but when Letty is on stage, sharing her thoughts with us, I completely felt like I got it.  It’s pretty cool.  Just one more thing I loved about this book!

The music connects us, ties us together with invisible strings.   It’s the most beautiful form of slavery in the world. – Letty

Music is about freeing the lyrics my heart holds dear and watching the meaning root, blossom, and spread like a virus across our fans’ faces.  - Letty

This book is definitely not for everyone … the two most shocking aspects (for me anyway) are -
1.  the graphic anal sex scenes.  I think I walked funny for a day just after reading Letty’s anal sexcapades.
“I drool -literally drool- at the thought of his ten inches filling my a$$” – Letty
I would cringe but, hey, that’s just me!  In addition to music being her passion I suspect anal sex is too.
2.  the vocabulary … shocking, but in an entertaining way.  I think every sexual slang word and phrase from the urban dictionary is in the book.  And it’s funny stuff.  I LOL-ed more times than I can remember.  KG definitely has a way with words.  A few examples -
If my nipples could ejaculate, they would. – Letty

Nope.  Resist the temptation, Letty.  F*ck him like a Roman nympho whore with a flaming crotch, let him put it out with a cum spritzer, then run like hell.  – Letty

Two fingers on a mission bypass my a$$hole and surprise attack my primed pu$$y from behind.  Like a ninja boss!  - Letty

I’m anxious to continue on with Beats, the second book in the Hard Rock Harlots series.  This book centers on Jinx, the drummer for Cherry Buzz Float.   As I said, Strings isn't for everyone but if this kind of story is up your alley you will no doubt enjoy it!
