Last Second Chance
Caisey Quinn
Release Date:  May 6, 2014

When Stella Jo Chandler gets an offer to work at the Second Chance Ranch celebrity rehab facility right after graduating from Texas A&M, she’s tempted to turn it down. She wants to help real people with real problems, not spoiled celebrities going on vacation for publicity. But growing up on her family’s ranch left her with a love of horses that draws her to the opportunity. How bad can babysitting a bunch of strung out celebrities be?

What she didn’t count on was being roped into a tangled mess with infamous rocker and three-time rehab drop out Van Ransom on her first day. And she sure didn’t expect to feel the overwhelming attraction that pulls her to the man who has more issues than she can count on both hands. Like the hotel rooms and tour buses he’s famous for trashing, the havoc he could wreak on Stella’s heart would be irreparable.

Van isn’t at Second Chance for publicity or because he’s suffering from “exhaustion”. He’s on the brink of destruction, and he needs the kind of help Stella isn’t sure she can give. But without her, he'll lose everything. Because he’s on his last second chance.

He was broken beyond repair, and  Stella Jo Chandler was empty inside.

Y'all .... yes, I have to start this review with "y'all" because it's Caisey Quinn!  She writes some of my favorite southern belles and Stella Jo is no exception!  Sassy and spunky, Stella Jo finds herself involved with resident bad boy Van Ransom.  Not one to usually seek out a "normal" girl, Van is smitten with Stella Jo and Stella Jo is, well, equally smitten.  You see, it's the first time Stella Jo has actually FELT anything really.  Up until this point, her life has pretty much been spent "going through the motions" but Van changes everything.
"I've spent so long avoiding feeling things - pain, pleasure, anything - that sometimes I'm afraid I might be completely ... empty inside." - Stella Jo
And Stella Jo does the same for him.
I don't know what I need.  I have no idea what it will take to fix me, but I  have a feeling you're a part of it."  - Van
Evidently what fixes Van is lots and lots of sex with Stella!

Their time at the Second Chance Ranch (Van is there for treatment and Stella Jo works there) is spent getting to know each other and falling in love.

Was their love a little "insta-lovey?"  Yeah, it was but I wasn't bothered by it (which is weird because I generally detest insta-love).  The aspect of the story that left me baffled was the sub-story of Stella Jo and her parents.  I totally didn't get the way her dad treated her and the reason given for it.

Overall, I enjoyed the book!  I love that Caisey went out of her comfort zone a bit ... I loved the edginess  that is Van Ransom!  Now, I'm left wondering who gets the next second chance in book 2 ....

Caisey Quinn lives in a suburb outside of Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, daughter, and other assorted animals. She wears cowgirl boots most of the time, even to church. She is the bestselling author of the Kylie Ryans series and writes New and Young Adult books about country girls finding love in unexpected places. She can be found online at
