After a series of catastrophic misunderstandings and impulsively poor decision-making, Scarlett MacGregor finds herself once again torn between two loves, as different as they may be. Lacking proper closure with their relationship, accompanied by the overwhelming guilt for her role in his devastating downfall, Scarlett resolves to help Mason recover and reclaim his life as a budding rock star. However, now that he has finally claimed her as his, Ash Walker is bound and determined to keep her by his side, and he will go to any lengths necessary to do just that.
Mason Templeton has hit rock bottom. He’s in love with a girl whose heart and soul belong to another and he’s partied his way off of an international music tour that was supposed to be his big break. Returning home for rehab sounds like the worst possible way to start a new year, but when an unexpected friendship emerges, he begins to realize that maybe everything does happen for a reason.
Euphoria is the third and final installment of Scarlett, Ash, and Mason’s self-discovering journeys to happiness and understanding the meaning of true love ~ the kind that begs for complete surrender
Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual content and harsh language.
3 smooches!
Euphoria is book 3 in the Book Boyfriends series by Erin
Noelle. While Metamorphosis and Ambrosia
were both 5+ star books for me, Euphoria ranks in at a disappointing 3
stars. Was it bad? No.
But, it also wasn’t amazing and there was a LOT of potential for this
book to be just that.
If you have already read books 1 and 2, then you are
familiar with the trio Scar, Ash, and Mase.
What I LOVED about this series as a whole is that I cared about all of
the characters. Usually in a triangle I
hate someone… the girl or one of the
guys… hell sometimes both! While Scar annoyed the crap out of me at
times and was a bit wishy-washy and hypocritical, I never hated her. As for the guys… they were both great! I couldn’t dislike either of them. While I liked Ash, I fell completely head
over heels for the sexiness that is Mason Templeton. Holy WOW!
That boy had it all. I would be
his angel any freaking day! Mase will
forever be in my top book boyfriends!
So, Scar makes her decision very early on and sticks with
it. I never felt as though it was where
her heart needed her to be but more-so her trying to make a decision and
finally stick to it. There was no fire …
there was no passion. While she stays
with her choice, she remains friends with the other who is still completely in
love with her. She battles her own
jealousy and feelings for the other guy throughout the book.
The angst and fiery passion is what was lacking in
Euphoria. It felt like all three
characters were washed out versions of their former selves. They were “maturing” but it didn’t work for
me. Mase ends up in therapy and becomes
a good boy… Ash is going on to graduate school… Scar is trying to make smart
choices and still keep both guys in her life.
Woah let’s back up for a sec! Yes, you read that right… Mase is a good
boy… there is SO much wrong with this! I
loved his wild, crazy, unpredictability.
He is the epitome of sexy rock stars!
Well, he was. Therapy washed up all of his sexy! He will always be
the old Mase in my eyes! That boy is
MINE! Selene and Brandi… back off!
And then there is the huge incident that has everyone fired up… In case it has not been spoiled for
you yet, I shall refrain from giving any details. Others were not so kind to me and I knew the
big WHAAAAT moment before I even started the book :( While it should have pissed me off or had me
bawling… it didn’t. I was so
unemotionally connected to this book and THAT is what disappointed me. Maybe the fact that it was spoiled before I even started lessened the blow, but I guess we shall never know!
I know a lot of people didn’t understand how I could love them both, but I could… and I did. None of that mattered any longer though.
And in the end… I still feel like she was settling. All of these characters deserved more. Especially my Mase! AGHHH!
I wanted to LOVE it. Truly I
did. I love Erin and I love these
characters. I just expected the same
connection that I had in the first two books and it wasn’t there. I still recommend reading it! You have to know the ending and no matter how
anyone feels about it, myself included, it was Erin’s story to tell. While the story may not be what I envisioned,
it was good. The series is one of my
favorites!
Team angel for life!!! <3
Selene's Review
3.5 Smooches
He kissed my forehead and whispered against my skin, "That's one step closer to my euphoria." - MasonUnfortunately, this book was not one step closer to mine. And I say that with a whole lot of disappointment.
Oh. My. Gawd. Mason Templeton. Rat. One of the hottest rocker book boyfriends I've come across to date. He alone solidified the first two books in the Book Boyfriend Series as two of my favorite reads. And like so many, I was anxiously awaiting the series conclusion, Euphoria. Who would Scarlett pick .... Ash or Mason?
Scarlett makes her choice early on in Euphoria. And even though she chooses, she keeps the one not chosen in her life .... even lies to the chosen one about it. I seriously wanted to stop reading at that point and I almost did but even though she chose, I had a feeling she might change her mind.
This is a hard review to write because I don't want to give anything away. As I read the book, I really felt like Scarlett made the safe choice, not the right choice. I did feel the love she had for the guy she picked but I don't think it was a passionate love .... at least not like the love she had for the guy she didn't pick.
Mason gets clean and his band goes on to do great things. Ash goes to graduate school in California. And Scarlett goes where her man goes (but I'm not sayin which one, LOL!)
But then life throws Scarlett a HUGE curveball and, well, this is where I get all kinds of pissed off. What happens afterwards and the choices she makes ...
RUH!!!!!!!!
"Remember, in the end, it's not about where you start, it's about where you finish." - Heather (Mason's therapist)
Truer words were never spoken. Oh how I wish Euphoria ended this beloved series on a better note.
Don't get me wrong .... I loved the series overall but Euphoria could've been so much more. It should've been so much more. Whether you are Team Ash or Team Mason, I don't think you'll be happy with the conclusion. And, PLEASE know that I didn't rate the book based on the fact that I wasn't happy with Scarlett's choice .... I rated the book based on the fact that it fell short of its potential.
Having said all that, I would still recommend the series overall. The first two books are fantastic ... even so to make this series a must read!
****** SPOILER *******
Please don't read on if you haven't read Euphoria.
In the end, even though Scarlett ended up with the guy I wanted her with, I still HATED the way she ended up with him. She settled!!!!! And Ash had to die!!!! That kind of makes Mason the First Runner Up and he got the girl by default. I hate that he got her that way. He deserved to be her first pick!
And the absolute worst part of the whole book ..... MASON NEVER GOT A SEX SCENE. Even if it was with someone else I would've been happy, LOL! I would've been happy if he screwed his therapist. A whole book of Mason without sex loses a smooch just for that alone! = )
Excerpt
Embracing her one last time, I whispered in her ear, “I love you, butterfly… ‘your curves
and all your edges, and all your perfect imperfections.’ I’ll see you tomorrow night.”
“I love you, too, Ash. ‘You’re my end and my beginning; even when I lose, I’m winning,’”
she whispered back. Then she grabbed her bag and headed for the security check point. Right before turning the corner where I couldn’t see her anymore, she looked back at me and blew me a kiss and made hand hearts. Damn, she was beautiful. I stood there for several minutes with a goofy ass grin on my face. I wasn’t expecting her to sing the next lyrics of the song to me, but it filled me with an indescribable feeling of warmth and love. ~Ash
