Synopsis
A little FAITH can get you through…
One night. That's all Finn had with the only girl he ever loved. Years
later, all he has left of that night is a silver cross, a broken give a
damn, and the unrelenting desire to drink her memory away. As the lead
singer of Blow Hole, Finn has his pick of women, but none are able to squash
the need he still carries around for Faith. To hate her offers some relief,
but when Finn sees her again after so many years, it's hard to despise her.
Especially when every reason he had to hate her, turn out to be lies.
As the daughter of a strict Baptist preacher, Faith Warren lived sheltered
from all things sinful. When she met Jimmy Finn, the epitome of all seven
deadly sins, she found out exactly what she was missing. After being forced
to choose between her soul and the only person in the world who made her
feel alive, Faith walked away from Finn and dove head first into her
father's preferred life. But now Finn's back and he's getting payback by
wreaking havoc on her emotions. Except sometimes bad things feel good, and
Faith has to decide once again if she wants to stay in her gilded cage or
fly free with the dark angel of lust himself.

Blowhole Boys #1 Playing Patience
Review by Heather
4.5 very intense stars!
Playing Patience is a beautiful story about two very broken people. Zeke and Patience are both suffering different forms of abuse. When they enter each others lives, it is one heck of a roller coaster ride. They are the definition of a beautiful disaster.
Zeke has been abused by his father for years. It has hardened him and turned him into an asshole. Zeke won't let himself love anyone or anything apart from his music. He plays in a band and playing that guitar is the only happiness in his hell of a life.
It wasn't fear that kept me from beating him within an inch of his life. It was a promise I made to my dying mother. Every time I thought about lifting my fist and putting it through his face, I'd hear her soft voice asking me to let it go. Zeke
Patience is the mayors daughter and the star of her school's soccer team. She is terrified of her father and has suffered his abuse for years. Patience is scared for her dying mother to find out and being upset on her deathbed. So, she copes by throwing herself into her soccer and pretending everything is perfect.
A door opened down the hallway and then I heard the soft click of it closing. The hairs on my arms stood up like a frightened cat. he was coming to see me. I was exhausted, but there was nothing I could do. All I could do was lie still and pray that it went by fast. -Patience
Patience goes out one night with her best friend Megan and is given a drink that has been spiked.
Everything around me started to go blurry and a wall of nausea slammed into me. I fell over and crushed my body into the fetal position. I needed help. Patience
Zeke is at the club playing with his band, The Blow Hole and goes to the restroom in between sets to find a girl curled up on the bathroom floor obviously on something.
How had I not noticed her there before? She stuck out like a whore in church. Except in this case it was the direct opposite. She stuck out like an angel in hell. Zeke
The girl asks him for help and reaches out to him.
It wasn't in my nature to give a shit, so it made me angry that I kind of did. Zeke
Zeke abandons his band which is totally out of character for him and takes the girl to the hospital. He is questioned about his involvement and then arrested for drugs that he had in his car. When Patience gets out of the hospital, she goes to thank him for his help and he is a complete jerk to her. Her best friend Megan is dating his best friend and they continue to run into each other. They are both inexplicably drawn to one another and he keeps trying to push her away by being an ass. She keeps taking it, needing to be around him.
"What if I think you're different?" -Patience
"Then you're even more naive than I originally thought."-Zeke
Zeke's walls begin to crumble and he wants to understand her. He wants to know what is going on with her and why she is sending him mixed signals. She wants him and needs to be around him and at the same time cowers from his touch and freaks out.
"You want to know what I am? I'm shattered, that's what I am. There are tiny piecs of Patience scattered all over."-Patience
"I'd like a piece of Patience."-Zeke
There is a lot of push and pull with these two. They let each other in only to push each other away, thinking they are doing what is best.
"...don't you worry about me having any misconceived notions about where you stand. I know where I place in your life and it's right below your guitar, your shitty car, some skank you banged last week, and drugs!" Patience
"Don't pretend to understand my feelings and emotions. Half the time I don't have any anyway, but when it comes to you, they're limitless, which is more dangerous. I don't look at you like you're nothing. I look at you like you're everything, because you are, and I fucking hate it." Zeke
The feelings they develop are intense. They fall crazy in love and will need each other when their worlds come crashing down. Zeke proves himself to be selfless when it comes to Patience. It has taken this broken girl to teach him to love again and Zeke loves with everything he is.

Blowhole Boys #2 Perfecting Patience
Perfecting patience fills in the blank between the ending of Playing Patience and the Epilogue. They get a few days together and then Zeke has to go back on tour. He wants more than anything to
take his Snowflake along with him but she won't go. She has started having panic attacks and doesn't want him to know. She wants time to get herself better for him and tells him that she wants
to go to college and they can work out a long distance relationship.
"It is amazing the things love will make you do. Love will make you kill, cheat, and steal. It will also make you walk away from the person who inspires your feelings if it keeps a smile on their face and gives them happiness." Zeke
Patience gets herself into therapy but never really commits totally and when she discovers that she can take pills to prevent her panic attacks, she stops the therapy all together and becomes addicted to Valium.
"There's a funny thing about scars. You can cover them up and hide them, but no matter what you do, they're always there." Patience
Zeke's music career has really taken off and in pushing him away Patience is faced with loneliness and jealousy on top of her already fragile state of mind. She is hurting herself and Zeke by trying to hide her problems from him and things really get out of hand. Zeke is also lonely and jealous and knows something is not right with his Snowflake. The lies and suspicion are literally breaking them.
"Life had been difficult for Zeke and me. There were hard times that we almost didn't make it through. But then we found each other and held each other together. Not everyone meets their other half. Not everyone has the chance to feel the kind of love that Zeke and I have for each other, but I'd like to think that after everything I went through in my life, Zeke was my happy ending."
I give Perfecting patience 3.5 stars. I am very glad that I went back and reread Playing Patience before reading this one and got their story fresh in my mind. While Perfecting Patience didn't have that same new, scary, innocent love and didn't evoke them same feelings of outrage and shock that Playing Patience did, it was nice to have more of their story. It made it more realistic to show that after the trauma they both went through that they did struggle to get to that happy place they found in the Epilogue of Playing Patience. Such a beautiful story!
