Falling by E.K. Blair- Blog Tour

Falling Synopsis:

Sometimes it takes someone else to show us what we are truly capable of becoming.

Suffering from years of violent abuse, Ryan Campbell has learned how to keep people from getting too close. But when you shut yourself off, people get hurt along the way. Never caring much about others, Ryan creates a world in which he doesn’t have to feel.

When Ryan meets Candace Parker, all of his walls slowly begin to crumble. Not sure of the truth of who she is, he feels his mind is playing tricks on him. Unable to force out the thoughts that consume him, Ryan is haunted by visions that torment him every time he looks at her. He finds himself swallowed by guilt and blame, but he’s unwilling to turn his back on the one person that could possibly save him.

You’ve heard Candace’s story in Fading, now hear Ryan’s.

Review:
4 tearrrrific smooches

Fading was one of my absolute favorite books of the year.  I was THRILLED to find out that Ryan had his own book coming, Falling.  Falling starts a little before Fading and goes past the ending giving a beautiful conclusion to Candace and Ryan’s story.

I am always a bit nervous for a companion novel.  I am usually disappointed but Falling was very much Ryan’s story.  While there were moments from Fading in his story, the majority was completely new.  Yes, the big events were the same but Ryan has so much going on in his own life.  Being in Ryan’s head…  seeing how much he loves Candace… it is just beautiful!

I’m sure she can hear my heart pounding, but I need her to hear it.  I need her to feel it as it thuds in my chest because I need her to hear me falling for her.
In Fading, I felt Candace’s pain.  I was so moved… I cried a lot.  In Falling, it was Ryan’s pain I felt and once again I was moved to tears.  E.K. has a way of overwhelming you with the emotion of her characters.  These books stood out to me among all of the books that I’ve read dealing with rape.  Not to take anything away from other books but it is a hard issue to read about and harder in these books than most.  But, it felt so real to me.  In Falling you really experience how hard it was for Ryan to deal with witnessing a rape... and later realizing that the horrific scene that keeps replaying in his mind happened to the girl he has now fallen completely in love with.   Ryan's rage when he comes face to face with Jack was so much... more through Ryan's head.

Everything tunnels as I turn from everything good in my life and walk away.  One second.  That's all it took.  Suspended in a false reality where actions and consequences no longer exist.  Where rage boils so deep inside your veins that you'd do almost anything to drain them.  I'd bleed it all out for her.
In Falling you get a completely new story from Ryan's POV and it is emotional and raw.  While it didn't have quite the same affect on me as Fading, let's face it I don't think many books would, I was very happy with Ryan's book.  I didn't feel like I was simply rereading a book I have already read in another POV.

I cannot let this go without saying how much I LOVE the covers for all three of the Fading books.  I am a self professed cover whore.  I don't understand how you can pour hours and hours of your life, put your heart and soul into a book, and then use a generic blagh cover.  These covers are GORGEOUS!  They are original, they are sensual, they are sexy without looking trashy.  I just LOVE them!  Perfect faces for these amazing books!  Great job on a BEAUTIFUL series E.K!!
